Studio Day!

Studio Day!

Today, I get to go down and work in the studio as much as my little guys will let me. With 3 under 3 in the house on weekdays, that makes it difficult to get things done at times, but often they surprise me. My oldest likes to “make a quilt” too, as well as do all the other messy art things Mommy has down there. Both of my boys like to play in my scrap bin, and I happily let them. Maybe my friend’s little guy W will nap good for me today and I’ll get a lot done!

I’m at a standstill I feel in my Mood Mod quilt. It’s all appliqued down, seams trimmed and pressed. I cleaned up my edges a bit, and I still can’t decide if I should trim it to a rectangle, or let the organic shapes of the quilt stay. I’ve never done at quilt with such irregular edges before, and as this is a quilt of firsts for me, I’m tempted to let it be!
Here it is all trimmed with the organic sides….
And, thanks to the modern tool Photoshop, the quilt trimmed to a rectangle….
It is SO dynamic looking trimmed…I’m torn! I’m really looking forward to quilting it, but I know I need to make this decision, especially since I need to put a sleeve on it to hang it, and how I do that will have to be determined by the quilt’s final shape.
I’m still sketching quilt designs, but this is going to be so much fun! I think I might try to submit this one to a show in my area, for the first time.
